Planning Advisory Committees

The Planning Advisory Committees (PACs) are the foundation of the Program. Consisting of 5 to 9 members each, there are six PACs which represent various parts of the County.

The PACs advise and make recommendations to the decision making authority on individual land use applications and on County-initiated changes to the Comprehensive Plan.

PACs may also advise the County on other matters of community-wide concern. PACs are notified of all land use requests within their area. If the PAC holds a meeting to consider the request, they prepare a recommendation and submit it to the County Planning Department. Unique to Douglas County is the fact that PACs are legally recognized to represent their communities and speak at public hearings on land use matters. However, PACs are advisory bodies and do not make final decisions.
