MISSION STATEMENT: “The LPSCC Behavioral Health and Housing Subcommittee mission is to identify, examine and close gaps related to housing and behavioral health for justice-involved individuals. The Subcommittee works collaboratively, with an emphasis on inclusion, equity, and reducing recidivism.”
VISION STATEMENT: “A thriving, healthy community where public safety partners collaborate to empower and support justice-involved individuals in achieving stability and recovery.”
Behavioral health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood. This subcommittee to LPSCC works with local partners to identify opportunities to help the community and improve the social determinants of health and housing options. Oregon Housing and Community Services is Oregon's housing finance agency, providing financial and program support to create and preserve opportunities for quality, affordable housing for Oregonians of lower and moderate income. To learn more, use this link to OHCS. For local resources for behavioral health or housing, please see the Resources subpage to LPSCC.
In 2018, this LPSCC Subcommittee and partners launched Connecting Point, a "one-stop shop" weekly resource fair that happens at several locations Monday through Friday. People can get connected to resources that includes treatment, mental health services, cell phones, housing applications, wound care kits, hygience kits, identification paperwork assistance, veteran assistance, showers and other services or goods.
