The Douglas County Treasurer's Office is responsible for maintaining and reconciling bank accounts, assuring that adequate cash is available to meet the obligations of the County. The Treasurer provides a timely distribution of all property tax payments to approximately 130 different taxing districts. The Treasurer coordinates all cash flow activities, such as providing cash receipting services for all departments and working with each department to ensure compliance with the County’s cash handling policies.
Additionally, the Treasurer is the investment manager for Douglas County. The Treasurer manages the County’s investment portfolio, making sure that all funds are invested in accordance with the County’s Investment Policy, as well as Oregon Revised Statutes.
The Douglas County Treasurer is a non-partisan elected position. Samuel W. Lee III is the current Douglas County Treasurer, and is serving his first term as an elected official for the current term of January 4, 2021 – December 31, 2024. He was elected in 2020.
