Douglas County Planning Department is responsible for land use activity associated with estuarine resources, coastal shorelands, beaches and dunes, and ocean resources in coastal Douglas County in partnership with other local governments, federal and state agencies and other stakeholders as part of the Oregon Coastal Management Program (OCMP).
Douglas County's coastal management program carries out Statewide Planning Goal 16, Estuaries; Goal 17 Coastal Shorelands; and Goal 18 Beaches and Dune through its Coastal Resource Plan, Comprehensive Plan and Land Use and Development Ordinance (Chapters 3.33 Beaches and Dunes Overlay, 3.34 Shorelands Overlay, and 3.36 Supplementary Provisions - Estuarine and Shoreland Areas).
