Commissioners and Representative Osborne Hosting

Informal Meeting About the Private Forest Accord

(Douglas County, Ore.)  Douglas County Commissioners Tom Kress, Chris Boice, and Tim Freeman, along with State Representative Virgle Osborne (House District #2) will be hosting an informal meeting regarding the Private Forest Accord (PFA) on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the OSU Extension Office Auditorium located at 1134 SE Douglas Avenue in Roseburg, Oregon.  The meeting will include a presentation from the Oregon Department of Forestry, and is intended to provide information about what the implementation of the PFA means for small timber woodland owners in Douglas County.

The PFA was passed by Oregon legislators in the February 2022 legislative session and established the most comprehensive set of changes to the Oregon Forest Practices Act (OFT Act) since its inception in 1971.  The OFP Act was the first law of its kind passed in the United States.  The PFA represents a year of scientific review, negotiations and collaboration between private forestry representatives, small forestland owners, and environmental groups.

For more information about the meeting, please contact the Douglas County Commissioners Office at (541) 440-4201 or email jennifer.miller@douglascountyor.gov.
